Lights in downstairs bathroom go off too soon when you are in the shower. As there are only Venetian blinds there is some light pollution - not great if you are a light sleeper.

Our only issue was with the televisions and WiFi. The WiFi wasn't great in the house and unfortunately the televisions currently rely on this. A simple switch to freeview should hopefully get round this problem.

Laurel Cottage gave us the ideal base for an extended family holiday and it is large enough for everybody to have their own space. We wanted for nothing, the cottage is so well equipped you need take nothing with you apart from whatever clothing you see more

We wanted for nothing, the cottage is so well equipped you need take nothing with you apart from whatever clothing you need. Newchurch is a lovely small community but lacking a local shop, that can be a blessing but if you run out of milk/bread/butter it can be tricky so plan you shopping ahead. However the local pub (walking distance) is good and worth a visit. We have been holidaying on the island since the hot summer of 1976 when our children were young, our holiday at Laurel Cottage was the best by far.

The garden is lovely (would have been even lovelier if the weather had allowed us to use it!). We found that it was a great base - all we wanted to do was within easy reach. I would thoroughly recommend it and would consider another stay in the future. |

The only thing that worried me slightly were the wooden stairs and the potential to slip - not just the elderly(!) but someone coming downstairs carrying a baby for example.
