Description

Well Cottage is a two storey, one bedroom cottage, positioned just behind and adjacent to the main farmhouse. Built in the 17th Century the property is not lacking in character, which is evident from the attractive stone exterior. Internally, the ground floor consists of an open plan lounge kitchen/diner with comfortable seating in front of a wood burner, now a focal point in the old fireplace. The kitchen if fully equipped, so guests can make the most of cooking with some of the delicious local produce, discovered while exploring the island! A shower room, along with a narrow spiral staircase take up the remainder of the ground floor. Once upstairs you’ll reach the bedroom via a landing, useful as a dressing area. The bedroom is tastefully furnished, with exposed beams and a king size bed. Outside there is a shared courtyard, with table and chairs perfect for al fresco dining, or simply soaking up the sunshine. This charming property is ideal for couples, who may want to bring their dog for long walks across this beautiful Island.

Little Span Farm occupies the western slopes of the Rew Valley, providing some magnificent views of the Island and the English Channel. Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it used to be part of the Appuldurcombe Estate and is now run as an attractive grassland farm, with grazing sheep. Your stay will allow you to relax and unwind, surrounded by beautiful downland and woods owned by the National Trust.

ADDITIONAL:

This property can be booked alongside Span Farmhouse, and Garden Cottage, to accommodate up to 20 guests across all properties.

PLEASE NOTE: a pre-authorised, refundable, security deposit will be required a week before arrival at the property. No money is taken unless damage is reported at the property within 14 days of departure.

This property can accept a maximum of 2 dogs. The charge is £35 per dog, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own dog bedding. Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.

Not suitable for children, due to narrow spiral staircase i.e. adults only.

Arrival time: 16.30 onwards / Departure time: 10:00a.m.

Please be advised there are several steps up to the entrance of the property.

Bookings for hen and stag parties are not accepted.

There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car, unless agreed with the Owner of the property. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged without prior approval, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost.

There is a strict no smoking policy.

Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels as necessary.

Kindly be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival.

A breach of the rules and guidelines could mean forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

The Island Holiday Company can offer discounted ferry travel when you book your holiday through us.

Location

The rural location offers easy access to miles of foot and bridle paths, over the lovely countryside that surrounds the village of Wroxall. The historical Appuldurcombe House, with ornamental gardens designed by Capability Brown is just a short stroll from the cottage. Alternatively, you can walk across the Downs to say hello to the animals who have been given a much needed home at the renowned Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. The farm is also close to the popular Red Squirrel Trail, which has 32 miles of mostly traffic-free cycling and walking, some of which is along the old railway line, showcasing the Islands beautiful scenery.

By car, it's a short drive to the Victorian coastal town of Ventnor and Steephill Cove, where you can sample 'catch of the day' or locally brewed ale, browse the independent shops and walk the length of the harbour beach. Alternatively, a half hour journey takes you to Blackgang Chine, the oldest theme park in the UK, it’s attractions will amuse all ages! Continue along the Military Road West and you will end up at icon landmarks of Freshwater Bay and The Needles, where the chairlift down to Allum Bay is not for the fainthearted! For beach action and water sports, Shanklin, Sandown and Compton beaches do not disappoint, with golden sand and coastal town amusements.
