A great choice for a family holiday on the Isle of Wight, Ivy Garden is located in a residential street in the coastal town of Sandown, located close to a local shop. It is just a 5-minute walk to the beautiful beach and seafront of Sandown Bay,
Dog friendly and with parking on the driveway for two vehicles its an excellent choice to book your next holiday or short break, nestled just off England’s south coast. The Island is surprisingly easy to reach and only a couple of hours from London, with regular ferries running from Southampton, Portsmouth, and Lymington. You could even leave the car behind should you wish, and travel here by rail and high-speed catamaran across the Solent, by booking a combined ticket from any Mainland train station to nearby Sandown station.

This property is dog friendly allowing up to three dogs to stay and can accommodate a maximum of up to five guests, internally it offers two upstairs bedrooms, a spacious double and a bunk bed room whilst on the ground level you have a single bedroom, its also equipped with a high chair and stair gate.

There is an enclosed garden at the rear with seating areas and a storage shed for bicycles. The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines. You can cycle across the width of the island to the famous Needles landmark or try the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee held over the bank holiday in May. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace, stopping off along the way at one of the many restaurants, pubs and cafés that can be found in the quaint villages and towns. .

To the front there is driveway parking for two vehicles, at the rear there is an enclosed courtyard garden with seating areas and garden furniture as well as a storage shed for bicycles.

ADDITIONAL:

PLEASE NOTE: a pre-authorised, refundable, security deposit will be required a week before arrival at the property. No money is taken, unless damage is reported at the property within 14 days of departure.

This property can accept a maximum of 3 dogs. The charge is £35 per dog, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own dog bedding. Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.

Arrival time: 16.00 onwards / Departure time: 10:00

There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car, unless agreed with the Owner of the property. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged without prior approval, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost.

Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels and cot linen as necessary.

​There is a strict no smoking policy at this property.

Please be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival.

A breach of the rules and guidelines could mean forfeiture of the Security Deposit.

Location

There are plenty of attractions to keep all ages entertained long Sandown seafront. The Pier and glorious Sandown Bay are just a short walk down-hill from the property. Voted one of the island’s best beaches, so why not stretch your legs along the miles of golden sand or swim in the cooling water of the English Channel. The nine mile stretch between Yaverland and Shanklin, with Sandown nestled in the middle, demonstrates the wonders of geology, with red sandstone through to the white chalk of Culver Cliff. On a lucky day, the remains of fossils can also be found! If you crave an active holiday, the bay is hugely popular with water sports and you’ll be sure to see people paddle boarding, surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing or catamaran and dingy sailing; weather dependent.
A short walk towards Yaverland, you will also find the Wild Heart Animal Sanctuary, famous for its big cats. The sanctuary, formerly the Isle of Wight Zoo, gained further recognition due to the owners relationship with the naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packman. Additionally, a perfect distraction for the younger guests is Sandham Gardens, which is only minutes’ walk from the esplanade. With karting, sky nets, crazy golf and a dedicated play area on offer there should be plenty to ensure a good night’s sleep at the end of the day!

Over half this beautiful island is protected as an Area of Outstanding Nature Beauty, so why not take a day to explore some of the stunning scenery by taking a drive along the Military Road. Travel west from Sandown, through Ventnor, a pretty coastal town that clings to the cliff side and is famously the preferred holiday destination for aspiring Victorians; perhaps stopping on route to get lost in the peaceful Ventnor Botanic Gardens. The final destination is the iconic Freshwater Bay, with its sparkly, clear water and breath-taking views and cliff top walks. Park at the Bay and walk up to Tennysons monument. To really blow the cobwebs out, continue to the most western point of the island and the landmark Needles. The birds eye view is worth the hike and refreshments are on hand at the Old Battery, which was the Victorian coastal defence and secret rocket testing site, perched above The Needles. Dropping down the other side of the Tennyson down, Alum Bay comes into view. The twenty-one different coloured sands create a distinctive backdrop for the shingle beach. For those with a head for heights, take the chairlift up and down to the beach, to see The Needles from a difference perspective.

Out of the many other island attractions, why not follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria and visit her favourite summer residence. Osborne House and gardens was designed in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo by the Queen’s beloved husband Prince Albert. In contrast, a day spent at Blackgang Chine will ensure you a rather different Victorian experience; having opened in 1843, it remains the oldest themed attraction in the UK
